About us

Cardiff Tamil School is run by a set of volunteers from Cardiff who are keen and interested in teaching Tamil to the younger generation who have migrated to the U.K.

We have enrolled 36 students for the current academic year (2024-2025). More parents have expressed their interest in sending their children to the class and we have wait-listed them for the next academic year. Classes usually start in September for the new Academic year and run until the end of June. New students will have an evaluation test at the beginning of the year to assess their grades.

Generally, the classes take place every Sunday from 4 pm to 5.30  pm at Ponprennau Primary School in Pontprennau, Cardiff. We charge a nominal fee of £150 per annum to run the class, mainly to cover the hall rent and to organize cultural activities. All payments are done via online banking.

We aim to conduct Tamil-oriented cultural programmes for Pongal, Tamil New Year, Sports Day and Annual Day..

International Tamil Academy

Cardiff Tamil School is affiliated with ITC  which is based in California and they provide the books, syllabus, test papers...etc. Parents need to register their children with the ITC and they will be able to see the progress of the children on the ITA website. Attendance (10%), class participation (10%), and homework (10%) play a vital part in the student's progress as they contribute thirty percent of the marks.

In addition, the students will have monthly tests and projects to submit from Grade 1.

The final exams will be conducted during June and the student will get a grade completion certificate and will be moved to the next level.

Please check out more details about ITC here
